Qwest is the choice of 95 percent of Fortune 500 companies, offering a full suite of network, data and voice services for business customers and government agencies. Additionally, Qwest participates in Networx, the largest government communications services contract in the world. The Qwest network covers the continental United States with one of the largest fiber footprints capable of supporting 40Gbps data transmission rates.
According to Melodi Gates, chief information security official at Qwest, “Qwest is implementing Secure64 software because the technology is inherently secure – the security features in the operating system are baked in, not bolted on.”
“Having Qwest purchase our DNS products demonstrates that our technology really works to help secure the Internet infrastructure,” said Steve Goodbarn, CEO and Director of Secure64. “We see Qwest’s adoption as the final stamp of approval for our software.”
Secure64’s suite of DNS products includes Secure64 DNS Signer, a software product that fully automates Domain Name System Security Extensions (DNSSEC) key generation, key rollover, zone signing and re-signing processes. It reduces deployment and administration costs while eliminating errors that can cause domains to become unavailable. The software also scales to extremely large, dynamic environments by safely keeping DNSSEC signing keys online while providing incremental zone signing and extremely high signing performance.
Due to its importance, the United States Office of Management and Budget issued an OMB mandate that all federal agencies must implement DNSSEC by December 2009.
The company’s other DNS product, Secure64 DNS Authority, is an authoritative name server software product that’s available at all times – even during network attacks or restarts. It delivers the availability and security required in today’s networks, without the cost and complexity of conventional solutions.
